4th of July Weekend Kiteboarding Forecast

Last Week – Close:  Saturday ended up being windier than forecast.  There were reports of kiteboarding north of Muskegon and Ludington.  Sunday was pretty much right on.  Maybe got a little windier early than I thought it would.

Tally So Far:  Nailed It – 3, Close – 10, Way Off – 0

Water Temp:  Mid 60’s to upper 50’s from south to north along the lakeshore.  Pockets of cooler and warmer water can be found though.

Today:  North west winds this afternoon from Muskegon down to Holland in the 15 to 20 knot range.  Nice waves in the 3 to 6 foot range also.  This is about all the wind we’ll have for the next few days it looks like.

Saturday:  Light and variable winds.

Sunday: Light and variable winds

4th of July:  Light and variable winds.  I guess it’s good for fireworks.

This past Tuesday we had a really good ride afterwork doing a downwinder from Grand Haven to Port Sheldon.  We were out on our 10m and 8m kites which was perfect for the wind for 3/4 of the trip.  By time we got on the last stretch the wind came down a little and we had to work to get to the end, but totally worth it!
