October Delivers!

We got the tri-fecta this weekend!  Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were rocking up and down the West coast of Lake Michigan. We went kiteboading at GH State Park on Friday night with northwest winds in the low 20’s.  A little gusty but nice big waves and steady enough to have a good time.

Saturday was a lot like Friday but you had to hit the northern and southern parts of the lake to get the best wind which was reaching 30 knots.  Jetty was at South Haven and reported that there were big rolling waves and good winds.  I stuck around Grand Haven and gave the SUP a try in the afternoon for a little exercise.  We received reports that Manistee was also great for stand up paddle boarding and kiteboarding with a strong North wind.

Sunday the Southwest winds were unexpectedly good.  We hit up North Shore and there were a few surfers but no other kiters.  It was one of the best rides of the year with winds in the mid 20 knot range and steep rolling waves to give your boosts an extra kick.  I took a few pictures as the sun was setting on one of the best sessions I’ve had this fall. -DP

Jeff learned to windsurf as a kid on the coast of Lake Michigan in Manistee and has been addicted to wind sports ever since. He took up kiteboarding after moving back to West Michigan in 2008.
