Its been a real winter so far this year with no signs of letting up. It seems like it’s windy just about everyday and there is no shortage of snow. I wish that we had so many windy days in the summer! DP and I decided to give Little Black Lake a try snowkiting this past Saturday after a fresh dumping of about 8 to 10 inches Friday night. Little Black Lake is a small mostly private lake between Muskegon and Grand Haven. It was real windy however so the lake wasn’t all powder and still had patches of exposed ice (My behind is reminding me of those ice patches today). Conditions were temps in the low 20’s with a NNW wind from 15 to 25 knots and occasional lulls under 10 knots.
Overall, I’d say it was one of the better snowkiting experiences I’ve had even though it was so gusty. My standards are pretty low I think becuase I just don’t get out very much for it like I do kiteboarding on the water. When the wind was up, we are shredding along at a good clip and trying small boosts. When the wind would lull, we’d sit down and take a break. The wind was blowing the snow around quite a bit too so there would be white out conditions at times too. DP took a break towards the end of our session and snapped some pics.
