Weekend Kiteboarding Forecast July 15th & 16th

Last Week:  Close.  Saturday turned out to be windier with a 15 to 20 knot NW wind all afternoon.

Tally So Far:  Nailed It – 5, Close – 5, Way Off – 1

Water Temp:  Low 70’s for most of the lakeshore with some pockets of mid to upper 60’s mixed in.  Just about right for mid July.

Today:  A light NW breeze this afternoon in the 10 to 15 knot range for the entire lakeshore.

Saturday:  Mid afternoon the wind will pick up for the northern half of the lakeshore and be out of the SW.  It should be a good 15 to 20 knots from around Ludington up to Frankfort.

Sunday:  A north wind is shaping up for Sunday in the 15 to 20 knot range.  The 15 to 20 seems to be a theme lately.  With the due north direction, Manistee and then south of Holland are the best locations for side to side on wind.  Might be worth watching for some waves in the Muskegon to Grand Haven area where due north is side off, but makes for nicer waves coming on shore.

Few pictures from a downwinder on a North wind two summers ago:

  • Wasn’t this last summer? Need to do some downwinders yet this year.
