Weekend Kiteboarding Forecast July 27th and 28th

Last Week: Close! Friday last week was epic on Lake Michigan and Saturday was good I know of for sure in Manistee.  Sunday was my “way off” day.  The light breeze never built

Tally So Far: Nailed It! – 5, Close – 11, Way Off – 1

Friday:  SW wind on from 15 to 20 knots from Holland to Ludington, with some gusting a little higher. Bad thing is that it looks like rain will be joining the wind this afternoon.  Might be able to wait out the rain and ride after.  Holland State park, North Shore and Muskegon State Park would be good spots to go.

Saturday:  Looks like its going to blow WNW for most of the day with the best wind during the afternoon.  It should be in the 15 to 20 knot range around Whitehall and increasing slightly as you head south to Holland.  This is a little more of an onshore direction then is usually seen, so it could make things challenging with some shore break and staying upwind.  Pere Marquette Beach, Grand Haven St Park,  Tunnel Park and Laketown Park would be some good spots.

Sunday: A west wind is going to blow most of the day with enough in the afternoon for riding.  Probably around 15 knots from Muskegon to Holland.  Pretty much any beach will do that has a good amount of open space for launching and landing.  The most hazardous part of kiting usually, especially with direct onshore.

It’s going to be cooler in the low 70’s this weekend with a chance of rain on Sunday.  The water also turned over and cooled down.  Dust off the spring wetsuits!
