Weekend Kiteboarding Forecast July 29th & 30th

Last Week:  Nailed It.  Unfortunately not much wind last weekend.

Tally So Far:  Nailed It – 6, Close – 6, Way Off – 1

Water Temp:  Upper 60’s for the entire lakeshore.  Hopefully this wind this weekend doesn’t cool it down anymore.

Today:  This afternoon the wind will be picking up out of the NNE.  This is offshore for a large part of the lakeshore except for Manistee and the Silver lake dunes area.  It could also be good around the bottom of the lake.  Wind should be best late afternoon at around 20 knots for the kiteable spots.

Saturday:  Looks like a repeat of Friday except it will be more North and there is a better chance of it filling in NNW for the Muskegon to Holland area.  Wind will be a little lighter too with 15 to 20 knots.

Sunday:  Doesn’t look to promising for any wind.  Right now I’d say light and variable, but one model does indicate a chance for a NNW thermal to develop in the afternoon for the Muskegon to Holland area.  Something to keep an eye on.  I’ll comment Sunday morning if it looks like it’s going to happen.

If you’re planning to head to the beach in Muskegon this weekend check the water quality.  Apparently there is an E.coli problem at Pere Marquette beach.

This is a weekly blog post of my best guess at the kiteboarding conditions for the coastline of Lake Michigan from Holland north to Pt Betsie. Subscribe to automatically receive this forecast in your inbox
