Weekend Kiteboarding Forecast July 8th & 9th

Last Week:  Close.  The wind was quite a bit better than expected on Sunday, especially for the northern half of the lakeshore.

Tally So Far:  Nailed It – 5, Close – 4, Way Off – 1

Water Temp:  Upper 60’s for the entire lakeshore.  Almost 70 from Holland to Muskegon!

Today:  A decent NW breeze this afternoon in the 15 to 20 knot range for the entire lakeshore.

Saturday:  Early afternoon a lake breeze will pick out of the west for the Holland to Muskegon area in the 10 to 15 knot range.  Later in the afternoon to the far northern part of the lakeshore a south wind will develop around 15 to 20 knots.

Sunday:  In the morning another 10 to 15 knots for the Holland to Muskegon area out of the SW.  As the morning goes on it will calm down and the rest of the day for the entire lakeshore will be lightwind.

Quite a night last night in Grand Haven! Wind gusts in the 90 to 100 mph range.  Here is a snapshot from the lighthouse windmeter:  (Windalert happens to be having a free promotional weekend for Pro Access)

Also, here are a few pictures from Jeff getting out last Sunday kiting in Manistee.  He was able to ride his new 10m razor, so the wind was really good there.  His cousin even got to rip some waves surfing on a paddle board.
