Weekend Kiteboarding Forecast June 30th & July 1st

[embedit snippet=”autoad”]

Last Weekend:  It picked up a little bit once the sun came out late Sunday afternoon.  I actually got a light wind ride with my 12m Razor and Surfboard.

Water Temp:  Mid 60’s still for most of the lakeshore.  It’s probably going to really warm up over the weekend and next week.

Today:  Starting out SE and as the day goes the wind will become more south.  It should pick up from north of Muskegon up along the rest of the lakeshore to Frankfort.  I’d say 15 to 25 knots depending on location and increasing early evening to 30 knots potentially.  Higher winds closer to the points LSP, BPS, and PB.

Saturday:  Another day with a south wind!  Wind is going to be more SSW though and I don’t think it’ll be hitting 30 knots, but low 20 knots for north of Muskegon.  Lighter from Holland to Muskegon.

Sunday:  Why not make it 3 in a row!  Pretty much same as Saturday forecast.  Wind is going to tail off later afternoon though.  Also, more potential for thunderstorms on Sunday.

Light wind session Sunday afternoon in Manistee.

  • I like to kiteboard at South Haven but this time of year it’s too crowded on the main beaches. Nobody shows up even in good winds, it’s just too crowded. So last weekend I decided to drive up to Oval Beach in Saugatuck and the wind was good and there were fewer people but still nobody was kiteboarding there either. Where do people go when the main beaches are so crowded? Would like to connect with some people in Western Michigan. My mobile number is 317-997-1651. Thank you, Dave Watson

    • Dave, There is a GroupMe West Michigan Kiteboarders group where people talk about when and where they are going to ride. I’ll see if I can add you…
