Weekend Kiteboarding Forecast Sept 17th & 18th

Two Weeks Ago – Nailed It! I was off the grid last weekend up north.  However, I did get it right for Labor Day Weekend and also got to meet up with Jeff last Saturday for a great afternoon riding at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.  That was a fun day!  Jeff wrote up a good post here.

Tally So Far:  Nailed It – 8, Close – 13, Way Off – 0

Water Temp:  Upper 60’s all along the lakeshore.  I wouldn’t expect much change over the weekend.

Today: Mostly SE wind this afternoon so side off for most locations.  Later in the afternoon it will become more S, but it will also weaken in strength.  Not very much potential here.

Saturday:  Decent SW wind for most of the day along the entire lakeshore.  It looks like 15 to 20 knots with a little more up north by Frankfort.

Sunday:  More of a westerly direction, but only 10 to 15 knots.

Beaches are becoming less and less crowded now, which is always a nice perk of fall.  Not to mention the best wind and waves of the year are yet to come!

Took this picture from Empire beach right before heading to the Platte Outlet. The wind hadn’t filled in yet, but it was out there.

View from the parking lot after a great sesh!
View from the parking lot after our sesh Saturday.  I regret not sticking around a little longer for the sunset because once it got down to the horizon it lit the clouds on fire.
