Weekend Kiteboarding Forecast Sept 7th & 8th

Last Week: Nailed it!  I didn’t get out, but Friday was kiteable.  Saturday, Sunday and especially Monday went as planned.  Rode all three days.  Saturday and Monday in Manistee and Sunday at Pt Betsie.

Tally So Far: Nailed It! – 9, Close – 12, Way Off – 2

Friday:   South wind for the rest of today from Muskegon north.  The points, LSP, BSP and Betsie would be the best spots to go with winds around 20 knots.

Saturday:  From mid morning into the afternoon, a SW wind around 15  knots for Holland to Muskegon.  I think that LSP and Pt Betsie will be rideable as well at about the same wind speeds.  Also, mostly cloudy with chances for rain so there won’t be any thermal enhancements.

Sunday:  A big East blow.  Nothing rideable in the normal Holland to Pt Betsie stretch of lake MI.  However, you might be able to go up around Leelanau state park and get side on at Cats Head Bay.  Tawas and the thumb area would be other options in MI.  Otherwise, Illinois and Wisconson get the nod for this day.

Pt Betsie
We had some heavy cloud cover early. As the sun came out, the wind picked up.

The east wind on Sunday is most likely going to turn the lake over.  Expect the water to be frigid after Sunday for awhile.  Starting to get into the best time of year now!
