Last Week – ?????: I’m not sure what happened to the forecast post last week. I wrote it up, hit publish, shut down and went on with my day. I thought I saved it too. It never published and it’s gone now. From what I remember, we had a little S wind on Friday that was just enough to kite at the points. Saturday was a little better with a decent NW breeze that got over 15 knots in Muskegon and most of the lakeshore. Sunday was calm.
Tally So Far: Nailed It – 6, Close – 11, Way Off – 0
Water Temp: The big lake is warm! Upper 70’s to 80 for the entire lakeshore.
Today: Earlier in the week it looked like we were going to get a nice SSW wind this afternoon. However, not so much now. Light wind and showers this afternoon.
Saturday: A little bit of a cold front is moving through, which is going to turn the winds NW. Muskegon to Holland should have 15 to 18 knots of wind in the afternoon at least. If the skies clear, which it doesn’t look like it will right now, we could get a few extra knots and hit the low 20’s. The northern half of the lakeshore looks to be a little lighter, but still kiteable if the sun comes out.
Sunday: It’s pretty early to call it, but I think we could see a thermal NNW wind in the afternoon for the Muskegon to Holland area. With how warm the water is, I’m not sure it will get too strong, but maybe 15 to 20 knots. Hopefully!
I can’t get enough of these pictures from back in early July.
